Laminate – Not Your Grandma’s Flooring
If you would have asked me in the 80s if I would put laminate flooring in my home, my answer would have been a resounding, “’No!“ It was too shiny and had that horrible tinny sound that drove everyone nuts, not to mention you weren’t fooling anyone into thinking it was real wood.
Since then, I have changed my mind. Don’t get me wrong, I still wouldn’t put the laminate from the 80s in my home, but I wouldn’t hesitate to install the laminate flooring of today.
Why You’ll Love It
Durable. Next to porcelain tile, laminate is the most durable flooring. Depending on the grade of laminate chosen, this flooring can give you many years of enjoyment with proper care.
Realistic. Long gone is the excessively shiny finish. Instead, the laminate of today possesses a lightly textured surface and patterning meant to mimic the look and feel of actual wood.
Easy to Clean. Despite its textured surface, clean-up is a breeze. Simply dust mop or use the dust attachment on your vacuum. For sticky spills or caked on mud, a damp mop will easily have your laminate flooring looking like new.
Adhesive-Free. Laminate flooring is installed using a click system, making the flooring adhesive-free. This makes laminate ideal not only for Do-It-Yourselfers, but also for those with sensitivities to strong smells.
Affordable. There are many different grades of laminate, making it affordable at almost any investment amount.
